Administrator Isabel Guzman, the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will join cosponsors Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and American Express (AMEX) on October 24, to bring ChallengeHER, a government contracting education initiative, to Silver Spring, Maryland.
The effort aims to empower women-owned small companies by assisting them in obtaining federal contracts and promoting their participation in the Small Business Administration's Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting program.
The SBA reported in July that it had surpassed the Biden-Harris Administration's FY22 small company federal contracting objective, awarding an unprecedented 26.5% of government contract dollars to small companies, totalling an astonishing $162.9 billion.
Along with a commitment to encouraging investment in WOSBs, the agency noted that WOSBs had won more than $26 billion in government contracts for the fourth straight year.
The ChallengeHER events provide networking and matching opportunities for women-owned companies and federal contractors. These events include world-class programming and training provided by subject matter experts to help firms navigate the complexities of the public sector supply chain. The classes are available both in person and electronically, and there are no registration costs.
The keynote speaker for the Silver Spring event will be SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman, and it will take place on October 24, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT. Guzman's speech is set at 12 p.m. Following a successful RSVP, specific location information will be supplied.
The Small company Administration of the United States is a critical resource for entrepreneurs and small company owners, assisting them in realizing the American dream of business ownership.
