Second G20 EMPOWER summit to take place in Thiruvananthapuram, India from April 4-6

The second G20 EMPOWER summit, held in Thiruvananthapuram from April 4-6, will further the country's women-led development agenda while India has the year-long chairmanship, according to the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The first G20 EMPOWER meeting was held in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on February 11 and 12.

The G20 Alliance for the Empowerment and Progression of Women's Economic Representation (EMPOWER) is a group of G20 business executives and governments that aims to speed up women's progress in leadership and empowerment in the private sector. According to the announcement, India's women-driven development goal would be furthered by the G20 EMPOWER 2023 project.

The G20 EMPOWER 2nd Summit's main topic is women's empowerment: a win-win for economic growth and equality. " The G20 presidency of India is transparent, equitable, ambitious, specific, and action-oriented, making significant advancements in the economic empowerment of women. More than ever, governments are emphasising the need of empowering women. The G20 Presidency of India has come at a pivotal and favourable time. According to the release, the second EMPOWER summit in Thiruvananthapuram will promote and strengthen activities carried out under the G20 EMPOWER Alliance under past presidencies to speed up women's empowerment.

Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, will preside over the event, while Dr. Sangita Reddy, Chair of G20 EMPOWER 2023, will also be in attendance.

The conference's opening plenary session, "Achieving Economic Prosperity by Empowering Women: Meeting 25x25 Brisbane Goals," will be followed by panel discussions.

The highlights of the dialogues, according to the report, included issues like "promoting women's entrepreneurship through mentoring and capacity building, market access and financing, role of STEM education and innovation for scaling up businesses, enabling Leadership across all levels including at grassroots levels, strengthening women's participation in scientific and non-traditional sectors of work, etc."

In addition, it was made known that there would be side events covering important subjects, such as panel discussions on facilitating "School-to-Work" transitions and career development opportunities, investing in a helpful infrastructure for the care economy, and navigating corporate cultures for women's empowerment.

"Cultural programmes will be held in the evenings, providing an interesting look into India's rich cultural legacy. In order to give attendees a taste of India's great cuisine and ancient customs, local cuisine and millet-based meals will also be offered throughout the events, according to the press release. On areas of agreement, the concluding plenary will concentrate on identifying significant results and defining activities across G20 EMPOWER goals.
