By: GWL Team | Monday, 24 June 2024

On July 24, 2024, more than 60 senior corporate leaders are gathering in Australia’s Sydney. They shall discuss on how to prevent violence against women and children with businesses playing a role.

This roundtable shall put up topics such as different ways towards violence prevention against women where corporations can act in an appropriate way, hearing from a non-profit organisation ‘Our Watch’, the e-Safety Commission, Thriving Communities Partnership, and people with lived experience of violence.

Micaela Cronin, the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner alongside Catherine Fitzpatrick, a social entrepreneur shall co-convene the critical discussion while keeping in mind that 1 in 6 women in Australia have come across financial abuse.

Micaela stated, “Governments and communities across the country have recognised that violence against women is at a crisis point in Australia. We know that systems can be, and often are, weaponised. That men who use violence are very good at weaponising every new technology to continue their coercive control.”

Adding to the statement, she said, “Today is an important day in gathering senior executives from the largest companies in Australia so they can hear directly about what is needed to identify, reduce and ultimately end violence against women and children.”

The attendees of the roundtable shall include leaders like Woolworths Group’s senior representatives, Telstra, Optus, Origin, AGL, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Property Council of Australia in addition to major banks, technology, transport, insurers, super funds and other industry associations.
