The ambitious "National Strategy for Empowerment of Emirati Women" has been presented in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, popularly known as the "Mother of the Nation," resides. The historic debut coincided with Emirati Women's Day 2023 and embraced the theme "We Collaborate for Tomorrow."

Sheikha Fatima wants to achieve comprehensive women's engagement across all sectors and improve the standard of living in society as a whole. This goal is consistent with her imaginative approach. The plan will act as a fundamental framework and road map for decision-makers in the public and corporate sectors, as well as in civil society and local government organisations.

Sheikha Fatima, who is in charge of the General Women's Union (GWU), the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and the Family Development Foundation (FDF), said, "Emirati women have assumed a unique and prestigious position in all sectors of society, and the UAE has become a role model in the field of human development and indicators of global competitiveness, particularly indicators of bridging the gender gap.

The three primary elements of the comprehensive plan are:

Strengthening Families: The goal of the approach is to create interdependent, stable, and loving families that strengthen the crucial position of women in society.

Workforce Integration:This pillar seeks to maximise women's contributions to the economic development of the country by focusing on their integration into the labour market and growing industries.

Skills Development: The plan emphasises how crucial it is for women to grow their capabilities and improve their future skills in order to keep them at the forefront of social advancement.

The strategy includes steps to improve the legal and regulatory landscape, establishing an environment supportive to raising women's quality of life. Strengthening institutional collaboration and partnerships at the national and international levels is another priority of the strategy.

The implementation of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Emirati Women will be guided by the joint efforts of the General Women's Union, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, and the General Secretariat of the Executive Councils in each emirate. Several ministries, federal, local, and commercial agencies and institutions, as well as pertinent civil society organisations, will take part in this voyage.

The relevant institutions are responsible with developing operational plans every three years, subject to approval within their respective strategic frameworks, to guarantee successful implementation. The Cabinet and Executive Councils in each emirate will provide their final nod of approval.

As part of this innovative project, the General Women's Union will regularly meet with key institutions to track developments, assess successes, and suggest any modifications that might be required to assure the attainment of predetermined goals.

The introduction of the "National Strategy for Empowerment of Emirati Women" demonstrates the UAE's everlasting dedication to the advancement of women in all facets of society. The country keeps paving the road for women to grow, contribute, and lead in shaping a successful future via cooperation and strategic planning.
