The Sister Accord® Foundation has announced that they have began accepting applications for funding via The Sister Accord® Accelerator which is a programme initiated to aid female entrepreneurs in order to grow and scale their businesses through a set of grants, education, and mentorship.
The program was made possible with the collaboration between the founder of the foundation, Sonia Jackson Myles and CEO and Principal of advertising agency Zambezi, Jean Freeman.
She is providing a funding of $50,000 and Jackson shall provide an amount of $10,000 to fund a 6th grant. In addition, the accelerator has been designed for the existing women-owned businesses’ growth by aiding them with monetary support, business education, and mentorship as well as the tangible tools needed to scale a business.
A total of 6 women entrepreneurs shall get $10,000 grant in addition to ongoing mentorship from Sonia and Jean along with additional guidance from a number of noted business leaders. The application will be open till 11:59 on May 31, 2024.
Sonia stated, “Studies continue to show that women are still not receiving the funding they need for their businesses—less than 3% of venture capital funds are given to women-owned businesses. I often see women business owners turn their passions into a business and get stuck not knowing how to scale. This program will help ensure that they have the necessary tools and knowledge to help get them to where they want to be in addition to receiving a financial grant. I am honoured that Jean has seen the potential in this program and agreed to partner with me again to create the curriculum and help lead. The generous support of Zambezi has made this second class possible.”
