SME Corp Malaysia benefited women entrepreneurs in 2023

SME Corp Malaysia (SME Corp), that comes under Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, has benefited 1,065 women entrepreneurs from financial aid of RM22.6 million in the year 2023.

SME Corp has implemented numerous MSME development programmes in 2023 which has benefited nearly 40% of the total 2,708 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) with a total aid of RM92.6 million.

Among all the programs Business Development Program for Micro Entrepreneurs’ (BizME) women entrepreneurs has been benefited majorly, with more than 548 participants from a total of 1,142 participants with an aid of RM1.7 million.

The SME Corp’s CEO Malaysia, Rizal bin Nainy said in a statement, “SME Corp. Malaysia remains committed to assisting women entrepreneurs by targeting at least 30 per cent of beneficiaries for initiatives and programmes specifically designed for women entrepreneurs. For 2024, a total of RM134.6 million has been allocated to implement various initiatives and programmes. We aim to benefit more than 16,700 MSMEs this year, including women entrepreneurs, in line with the aspirations of the more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable MADANI Economic Framework.”

He continued, “Also this year, SME Corp. Malaysia will once again organize the Enterprise 50 (E50) Awards, a prestigious recognition program that acknowledges the achievements of the top 50 MSMEs in Malaysia. To recognize the achievements and contributions of women entrepreneurs, one of the Special Awards created under this program is the Best Women Entrepreneur E50 Award.”

These figures represent SME Corp’s dedication towards women entrepreneurs’ development and providing them with proper assistance that shall help them to thrive in their respective sectors.
