Solumar, a women-led business located in the UAE, won the fourth edition of the Sharjah Advanced Industry Accelerator (SAIA), presented by the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP). Ten startups from across the world competed in the competition, including competitors from Brazil, India, Italy, France, China, and the UAE.

Solumar's winning solution provides low-cost methods for combating emissions and air pollution. It focuses on gathering and using black carbon and CO2, converting them into reusable carbon powder that sells for $3000 per ton. The novel strategy not only helps industrial business owners, but also marine and oil and gas enterprises adhere to the net-zero Agenda 2050 in a financially feasible manner.

With a focus on sustainability, the SAIA program highlighted four main areas: Energy Tech, Sustainable Mobility, Advanced Technologies & Digitalization, and Clean Tech, Green Tech & Agritech. Applications increased by 154.55 percent this year, rising from 1,650 in 2022 to an astonishing 4,200 in 2023.

SRTI Park CEO Hussain Al Mahmoudi emphasized the program's rising worldwide appeal and its significance in moving the UAE toward being a hub for future industries. He commended Solumar and other participants on their dedication to finding innovative solutions to climate change concerns. Solumar CEO Rennie Popcheva emphasized the company's ambition to help businesses achieve net-zero goals through cost-effective technology, and the SAIA triumph was an important step toward that goal.
