SRE & Huawei Mexico signs Agreement to Aid Women Entrepreneurs

Recently, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) has signed a strategic agreement with Huawei Mexico with an intent to equip women entrepreneurs with technical training as well as assisting them with digital economy’s access indigenous communities.

Intending to enhance operational and digital capabilities, the agreement shall use programs promoting access to seed capital in addition to providing training in topics that includes information technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digitization.

The agreement is promoting opportunities for international trade in order to increase women entrepreneurs’ participation trade missions, fairs and exhibitions.

Highlighting the feminist foreign policy of Mexico, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, Foreign Secretary said during the signing ceremony, “This agreement will provide financial and technical assistance to women entrepreneurs, enabling them to succeed in the digital economy. In our rapidly advancing digital world, encouraging and empowering women’s participation is extremely important [...] This program offers an extraordinary opportunity for women to share experiences and develop their own small and medium-sized businesses.”

She added, “I firmly believe that women should be helped to achieve economic autonomy; this is something that we urgently need [...] These technologies can increase women’s inclusion in society and modernity. Many of the things that women are doing are part of a labor network, so it is essential to empower them.”
