Sweena Pannu, Indian origin Lawyer appointee as New Superior Court Judge in the US

Sweena Pannu is an Indian-American lawyer who is now one of the 27 new superior judges appointed by Gavin Newsom who is the Governor of California. Sweena Pannu is a Democrat who will serve in the position left vacant by Judge Thomas D. Zeff’s retirement in the Stanislaus County Superior Court.

According to a news statement released by the governor’s office, the pay for each of these 27 posts is $231,174. Since 2020, Sweena has been serving as a Deputy County Counsel at the Stanislaus County Counsel's Office.

She even worked at the Stanislaus County Public Defender's Office as a Deputy Public Defender from 2006 until 2020. She received her Master of Laws Degree from the University of Aberdeen School of Law after completing her bachelor's from Punjab University and served as an attorney at ML SARIN from 1996 until 2004.
