In order to promote youth entrepreneurship and economic growth, the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) has partnered with Trade Mark Africa to launch a youth wing dedicated to providing young people with the necessary skills for business success.

The launch event, hosted by Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpologo on behalf of Deputy Minister of State Patrobas Katambi, was attended by around 300 women and 40 youth. Mr. Edward praised TWCC's effort, highlighting its potential to benefit families and contribute to national economic success.

"This collaboration aims to empower young individuals by providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and support so that they can thrive in the world of business," he said. Tanzania has a population of 61 million, 34 million of whom are young, hence the effort is aimed at a major demographic.

This young population is made up of around 11 million females and 10 million males. The project aims to strengthen the national economy by empowering knowledge and entrepreneurship.

The event included lectures and presentations from entrepreneurship trainers, creating an atmosphere for information exchange, networking, and cooperation among female entrepreneurs and youngsters. Ms. Mercy Sila, Chairperson of the TWCC, emphasized the significance of not just promoting entrepreneurship but also building an inclusive and supportive environment in which women and youth may succeed.

"By empowering women and youth, we are driving economic growth and nurturing innovation and sustainability," she said. The launch concluded with the reveal of the youth wing, which will continue its mission through seminars, mentorship programs, and networking events, with the goal of closing the job gap for young people and increasing their engagement in the economy.

Notable participants included TWCC Executive Director Mwajuma Hamza, Trade Mark Africa Programme Officer Zuhura Mbaga, and a large number of entrepreneurship advocates. The project is a coordinated attempt to leverage the resilience, inventiveness, and potential of Tanzanian women and youth entrepreneurs.
