The Asia Foundation Picks 2nd cohort for Pacific Women Climate Leaders

• California’s The Asia Foundation selects a fellowship program

Pacific Women Climate Leaders’ second cohort has been selected by The Asia Foundation. This is a fellowship program that will continue for 10 consecutive days, recognizing females driving climate solutions all across the Pacific region while connecting other climate leaders with them.

In addition, The Asia Foundation was founded in 1954, catering in the Non-profit Organization Management industry with headquarters in San Francisco, California, having specialities in Governance and Law, Economic Development, Women's Empowerment, Environment, Regional Cooperation, Exchanges, International Development, International Relations, Literacy and Education, Technology and Development, and Gender Equality.

Fellows from vicinities like Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu shall travel to New York City as well as San Francisco Bay Area for participating and expanding their climate diplomacy training while building networks with climate-focused partners and organizations. Some of the 2025 Pacific Women Climate Leaders include Mereoni Chung from Fiji; Dikatauna Kwa from Papua New Guinea; and Zoe Mahe from Vanuatu.

Considering the background of these women leaders, Mereoni holds more than 12 years of experience, being a gender, development, policy, political ecology, and human rights analysis and advocacy professional. She is well-versed in Pacific civil society organizations and the international development sector while assisting formulations of program, implementation, and review. She is also an avid ocean va’a paddler, holding a master’s degree in applied anthropology and participatory development from Australian National University.

On the other hand, Dikatauna is a biologist, small business owner, and a dedicated advocate on specific fields like conservation, research, youth empowerment, and sustainable development. Zoe Mahe is Vanuatu Climate Action Network member and the principal disaster recovery coordinator at the Department of Strategic Policy, Planning, and Aid Coordination in Vanuatu.
