To achieve UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 the United Arab Emirates Gender Balance Council (GBC) wants to increase its interaction with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). To the rise of women's representation in the parliaments, these two organizations have come together and decided to accelerate international efforts to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 5 which is related to the empowerment of girls and women across the world.

On 13 February, the World Government Summit 2023 was organized where His Excellency Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Member of the Global Council for the 5th UN Sustainable Development Goal met with Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and President of the Global Council for the 5th UN Sustainable Development Goal.

The UAE Gender Balance Council organized this event where Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Nahyan, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, Minister of the Presidential Court, President of the Dubai Women Establishment and Deputy Prime minister were present.

Empowering women was the main agenda of this meeting. Both parties came up with a variety of ideas on how to strengthen women's position and participation as leaders in the government.

To make this initiative a successful one, Her Excellency Mona showed her gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha and His Excellency Martin.

The sixth World Government Summit was previously held in Dubai in 2018 and aimed to develop such programs which include gender equality and support for women and young girls which will help to establish a prosperous and peaceful society. Women in society should be provided with an adequate amount of education, employment, and healthcare opportunities and also should have a chance in governmental services.

The Global Council and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) altogether made a project "Global Advanced Practices for Gender Balance Toolkit" which mentions the guidelines, global legislative models, and practical policies for incorporating gender balance and advancing women's empowerment in the government.

Both Her Excellency Mona and His Excellency Martin expressed their appreciation and discussed the ideas and proposals to make the initiative better. They have channelized the ideas to raise women's participation in every field possible throughout the world.
