The University of East London's female founders were awarded 10,000 Pounds

As a part of the University of East London's Diversity Innovation Summit, six brilliant female entrepreneurs have presented their ideas for the business venture to an esteemed judging panel at the Female Founder's Demo Day pitch competition. The event was held at the Docklands Campus on 31 May 2023.

Some of the renowned and prominent members from the London Entrepreneurship ecosystem, including Female Investment Consortiums, livery firms, incubators and accelerators, corporate banking partners, and Angel+VC Funders, attended the event in addition to UEL stakeholders.

The participants and the panel saw some exceptionally diverse entrepreneurial talents at UEL during the event. The top three entries have received a total of £10,000 in grants, which included a kind of support package from the collaborative partner’s Ankh Impact Ventures and the University of East London.

Through encouraging and supporting more diverse and creative female entrepreneurs, the Female Demo Day pitch competition aims to promote diversity in entrepreneurship. Ankh Ventures and UEL are collaborating to promote and support talented female founders as only one in three business owners are women and one in every six are members of racial or ethnic minorities.

The three Female Founder's Demo Day 2023 winners have been revealed by UEL includes, including Ashlea Cromby who pitched her venture of Mansible Tea and Estate winning the top prize of £5,000. Her tea company produces tea from the Kangra region of India.

The second winner of this event was Nicole Ihemadu who received a prize amount of £2,500 for her Uzuri Tribe venture. It is a hair and beauty platform by AI technology, it majorly focuses on black women who are underrepresented.

The final winner of the event was Kiri Scamp. She also received £2,500 for her venture, Miller which is a multi-purpose beauty brand that comes with recyclable and sustainable make-up kits.
