The Week That Was: Global Women Empowerment News Overview (1st May - 6th May)

By: GWL Team | Saturday, 6 May 2023

Our economy and society are significantly shaped by women who are business owners and leaders. Women have built successful enterprises and assumed leadership positions while overcoming a variety of barriers and problems. They have shown resiliency, creativity, and persistence in doing so.

According to studies, businesses with more diverse leadership teams—including women—generally outperform their competitors in terms of profitability as well as innovation and originality. In addition, women leaders contribute distinctive views and methods to problem-solving, which may result in wiser choices and more successful tactics.

Access to capital, resources, and mentorship opportunities, which are crucial for entrepreneurship success, is still incredibly difficult for women. Women may also encounter a male-dominated business culture in addition to having less opportunity to advance to top leadership positions due to unconscious prejudices and preconceptions.

It is crucial to acknowledge the achievements made by female leaders and entrepreneurs and to provide them greater chances to be successful. This includes measures that support women's access to money and resources, mentorship opportunities at all career levels, and gender diversity and equity in business and leadership.
