The Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence will host the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women's 25K in Bengaluru from February 26 to March 5, 2023.
The tournament is expected to attract top female tennis players who will compete for the title in both singles and doubles. The main draw is scheduled to start on Tuesday, and the qualification rounds will be held on February 26 and 27.
Ankita Raina, rated No. 245 in the world, and Karman Kaur Thandi, ranked No. 265 in the world, are the top-ranked Indian women's players who will compete in the tournament, so it should be enjoyable for both players and fans.
Sahaja Yamalapalli and Soha Sadiq, two younger tennis players who attend the PBI - CSE tennis academy, will compete alongside them.
The Padukone - Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence's founder, Vivek Kumar, stated that the organization's goal is to promote and advance women's tennis in the nation through this international tennis competition. A competition of this kind aids our nation's female tennis players in accumulating the necessary ITF points to advance in the world tennis rankings. In addition to gaining significant points, athletes also profit financially because they avoid incurring the fees of travelling to compete in ITF tournaments abroad.
The All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association will jointly organise the tournament, which is the top event recognised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) (KSLTA).
"We warmly welcome Vivek Kumar and the Padukone-Dravid Center for Sports Excellence as the tournament's hosts. The attendees will have a wonderful time, and the facilities are outstanding. I wish Indian players the best of luck and hope they make the most of this occasion to wow the crowd with some outstanding performances," stated Maheshwar Rao, Honorary Secretary, KSLTA.
