TLT LLP Achieves Gender Diversity Milestone "33% Women in Partner Roles Two Years Ahead of Schedule"

Two years ahead of schedule, TLT LLP (A Bristol-based legal firm in UK) is celebrating reaching its objective of having 33% of partner roles filled by women. By announcing that 33% of partner roles have been held by women since the beginning of the financial year, TLT LLP has achieved its female partnership objective two years ahead of schedule.

According to the company, “This demonstrated its steady progress in elevating women leaders throughout the firm."  TLT and its Women's Equality Network started collaborating on this challenging project in 2019. Since then, the firm's partner recruiting and promotion gender balance has significantly improved, with women making up more than 50% of partner promotions and recruits over the last three years.

An internal taskforce established by the company to track diversity progress is also responsible for the strategy's implementation. The taskforce examines crucial diversity datasets while carrying out important choices like recruiting panels and shortlists with a gender balance.

The taskforce member and chief people officer Helen Hodgkinson stated: "While our current situation is encouraging and things are improving, we still have a ways to go. We are aware that women continue to carry out the majority of care duties, and as women make up 70% of our workforce, this presents a substantial obstacle to increasing gender diversity in our executive positions.”

The taskforce has furthermore promoted diversity advancements like: A dedicated pregnancy loss policy, improved maternity and shared parental leave provisions, a "ramp up, ramp down" programme for expectant and returning parents, industry-leading paternity and non-birthing parent leave provisions, and a flexible working policy are among the changes made to the company's benefits package.

"It's imperative we keep the momentum going on ED&I [equity, diversity, and inclusion] and continue to diversify further to support both women and working parents, irrespective of gender," added Esther Smith, inclusion advocate and employment partner at TLT. The creation of a new cooperation aim has been verified by TLT.
