The seminar "Empowering women in the business sector" was organized by the United Arab Emirates Embassy in the Kingdom of Spain at its offices in Madrid. This event falls within the umbrella of the Embassy's initiatives to highlight the United Arab Emirates' initiatives and its inspiring role model for women's empowerment and sustainable development.

Margarita de Cos, Director of the Globe Women Foundation in Spain, and a prominent group of Spanish businesswomen were in attendance at the event. They spoke about the advancements they have observed in the UAE in the empowerment of women in various fields, particularly with regard to the infrastructure the nation offers to enable women to make their mark in the financial and business sectors.

In his opening remarks, UAE Ambassador Omar Obaid al-Shamsi emphasised the UAE's commitment to empowering and supporting women in all fields, including government, science, diplomacy, as well as the commercial and financial sectors. This is based on the leadership's vision for the UAE, which has always valued women's empowerment as a critical component in creating a modern, distinctive society. As a result, the UAE has presented a world-renowned role model by ranking among the top 20 nations in the UNDP's 2020 Gender Equality Index.

The ambassador emphasised that Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, president of the General Women's Union, president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and supreme president of the "Mother of the Nation" Family Development Foundation, is responsible for the Emirati women's continued success in this field.

The role of women's leadership in fostering peace, social inclusion, and prosperity was the focus of the Women's World Summit 2023, which was held in Dubai in May of this year. Several attendees gave the Emirati ambassador further information on their involvement in the summit after the event.
