Addressing the global issue where female entrepreneurs grapple with multifaceted barriers, The Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi has exemplified the government’s efforts to support female entrepreneurs. Growth Financing Facility (GROW) Loan Program aims to provide financial assistance while addressing other key growth indicators.
Loan Programming is vital for providing financial support to businesswomen for expanding their business enterprises. Noticing the crucial need to assist women's enterprises, the program commits to equipping entrepreneurs to scale their businesses from micro to small, small to medium, and medium to large enterprises. The program will have multiple learning experiences such as mentorship, business management training, access to the market, product certification, and technical skill development.
“Many people doubted whether women would receive and properly utilize this money. Seeing you here today is proof that the right target group has been reached.” “Women in Uganda are leading in entrepreneurship, and it is our responsibility to ensure they get the necessary resources to grow their business.” “This is a fundamental step toward achieving economic empowerment and financial independence for women,” said Minister Amongi.
The Ministry of Gender and World Bank in tandem with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is set to create growth, and opportunities for women through advocacy, policy support, and business development programs.
The success of this program lies in the continuous assessment and monitoring of its stages. It is worth noticing that financial institutions are successfully disbursing funds to qualified women. Uganda sets the path for its women to successfully lead businesses, access markets, and contribute to national development as a whole.
