UN Tourism concludes Women Entrepreneurs Focused Tourism Skills Training

In order to empower women working in tourism sector, UN Tourism has collaborated with Ministry of Culture of Republic of Moldova, Invest Moldova Agency and Moldova State University, USAID Moldova. The partnership has introduced a new project named ‘Empowering Young Women: Sustainable Livelihoods through Tourism in the Republic of Moldova’ to help women entrepreneurs.

The alliance has equipped tourism sector’s female entrepreneurs with a set of 10 skills training along with quality education. The training was provided by female trainers in certain selected rural areas in the country. The training’s another focus was promoting gender equality in the sector. In addition, the training has covered certain topics that includes Tourist Safety and Security; Health and; Hygiene in the Tourism Sector; Customer Service; Tour Guiding; Digital Literacy; Management and Financing of Tourism Enterprises.

The training program has started on February 26 and concluded on April 21, 2024. In the span of these two months, these 11-tourism skills training has benefitted Moldova’s 250 female entrepreneurs across rural areas. Additionally, 9 female entrepreneurs from neighboring Ukraine that includes villages of Lalova, Molovata-Veche, Zazulenii-Noi and Marculesti have also benefitted from this programme. Furthermore, it has been requested by USAID Moldova to team up and it has sponsored another skills training in the Valeni village which is the winner of the prestigious Best Tourism Villages Award of UN Tourism in the year 2023.
