United Bank for Africa (UBA) has reaffirmed its promise to support women in Nigeria and the African continent at its Business Series International Women’s Day (IWD) edition which was held on March 7, 2024, at UBA’s head office in Lagos.
UBA is a Multinational pan-African financial services group which was founded in the year 1949. The bank’s products are majorly focuses for women entrepreneurs with reduced interest rates for March.
The Group Head in Marketing and Corporate Communications of UBA Group, Alero Ladipo, has stated during the event, “We’re using the women’s month to make sure that we position ourselves as the partner for women. This is important to the growth and nurturing of our continent of Africa. As Africa’s global bank, we need to ensure that we have partners in forming a relationship with them.”
She emphasized on the partnership of UBA with Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This partnership has given $6 billion offer to African continent-based SMEs in sectors like manufacturing and agriculture, among others.
Alero continued, “It’s important that we find ways in which we can help the financing of SMEs because, on our continent alone, SMEs are driving most of the GDP in the different countries across.”
For International Women’s Day, United Bank for Africa has taken a great step towards supporting African women to grow and thrive in various sectors.
