With a step forward to strengthen the partnership, United States President Advisory Council has teamed up with Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), intending to empower Nigerian women entrepreneurs which shall cater as an assistance towards economic growth as well as stability.
Due to this alliance, the ties between United States and Africa alongside U.S.-Nigeria relations also becomes stronger, showing a potential for economic growth. The announcement was made recently, during the visit of United States Diplomatic Mission at TEF in Lagos, holding the focus on young women entrepreneurs’ potential unlocking.
Arun Venkataraman, the United States Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Affairs has underscored women entrepreneurs’ critical role that they must play in growth and development of Africa. He also spotlighted the potential of the country to remain unrealised unless females become integral to its future.
He stated, “The United States looks forward to working with Nigerian women entrepreneurs and having partners like the Tony Elumelu Foundation will make this happen because Africa’s future is America’s future, and we are in it together.”
Adding to the statement, he said, “We are deeply convinced that the jobs in Nigeria are with SMEs and figuring out how to access markets in the United States, Europe, or other African markets. That is where growth will come and we want to help.”
