University of Pittsburgh to Launch Women's Health Analytics Center

Recently, University of Pittsburgh is planning to launch women's health analytics center with an investment of $20M. This investment shall help in establishing a global research center which will be a first-of-its-kind at the University.

This step is being taken with an intent towards utilizing artificial intelligence analytics in addition to researching on reducing women's health disparities.

The gift of $20 million shall fund the Vijayalakshmi Innovation Center’s creation in Women's Health Analytics and Research (VIHAR) which is going to be backed by School of Medicine as well as a gift from Dr. Vishnu Vardhan and Harsha Vardhini. This brother and sister duo have turned AI entrepreneurs, co-founding Vizzhy Inc., a Texas-based company.

Additionally, Joan Gabel, the Pitt Chancellor stated, “This is a very specific type of generosity that is really going to make an incredible difference for countless women and girls to live healthier and happier lives and close gaps that should never exist in the first place. It creates an intersection that we believe is uniquely possible here at the University of Pittsburgh. ... In this case, at the intersection of health and data science and generative AI to make a profound difference in a way that only we can.”
