US Ambassador Leads Delegation for Women's Empowerment Conferences in India

US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, Geeta Rao Gupta, embarks on a significant eight-day visit to India, with plans to visit Gujarat, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The visit holds great promise as she spearheads the US delegation to attend two crucial conferences focused on women's empowerment.

Kicking off her visit from August 1 to August 4, Geeta Rao Gupta will lead the US delegation to the G20 Alliance for the Empowerment and Progression of Women’s Economic Representation (G20 EMPOWER) Conference and the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment, both hosted by the Government of India. This reflects the increasing importance of women's empowerment on the global stage, with a specific focus on economic representation and progress.

Accompanying her on this impactful journey are high-profile officials from various US departments. Notable delegates include Rachel Vogelstein, Special Assistant to the President at the White House Gender Policy Council, and Special Advisor to the National Security Council on Gender. Nancy Izzo Jackson, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, along with Mike Hankey, U.S. Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai, and Jamille Bigio, USAID Senior Coordinator for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the Office of the Administrator, complete the distinguished delegation.
