Miss America 2024, 22-year-old Second Lieutenant Madison Marsh of the United States Army, was crowned on January 14, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, at a historic moment for the Miss America competition. Madison's triumph against 51 contenders from all 50 states and the District of Columbia is the first time an active-duty Army officer has won the prestigious honour.

Ellie Breaux of Louisiana was first runner-up, followed by Cydney Bridges of Indiana, Mallory Hudson of Kentucky, and Caroline Parente of Rhode Island. However, it was Madison Marsh who was crowned Miss America 2023, receiving the title from Grace Stanke of Wisconsin.

Madison, who does not fit the stereotype of a beauty queen, is a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Her win is crucial not only for her, but for all military women who continue to tear down barriers and fight prejudices. Madison emphasized her military history throughout the competition's questioning stage, highlighting her commitment to learning and leading "with passion."

Madison mentioned her mother's fight with pancreatic cancer during the debate round, in addition to her military achievements. Madison's mother's death in 2018 motivated her to launch the Whitney Marsh Foundation, which is committed to raising funding for cancer research. Madison Marsh's historic victory exemplifies the varied and uplifting tales that the Miss America competition continues to highlight.
