US Embassy Dhaka Celebrates 6 Women Entrepreneurs from AWE Program

A total of 6 extraordinary women entrepreneurs have been celebrated by US Embassy Dhaka in an alliance with BRAC University's Center for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) at the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Business Pitch Winner Announcement.

All these entrepreneurs have been won the pitch competition. During the event, they have been recognized for their innovative and impactful business ideas. The event took place in Dhaka’s EMK Center at Kennedy Hall.

Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. Megan Bouldin chaired the event. Megan recognized the winner while reaffirming the commitment of US government towards women entrepreneurs’ empowerment. Chargé Megan stated, “These outstanding women represent the innovation and resilience needed to drive sustainable economic growth in Bangladesh.”

The winners were selected from an applicant’s pool from AWE Cohorts 1 and 2. These winners represent diverse regions across Bangladesh that also includes Sylhet, Cumilla, Barishal, Khagrachari, Jashore, Chattogram and Dhaka. Amongst all, each winner demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurial potential via their pitch proposals of business.

In addition, the AWE program was launched in the year 2022 in Bangladesh. Till date, it has provided training to more than 140 female entrepreneurs coming from all across the country. The program was implemented in partnership with Center for Entrepreneurship Development of BRAC University. Currently, it focuses on providing essential business skills to women that involves marketing, finance, and strategic planning. This particular initiatives underscores assisting females coming from marginalized and economically disadvantaged communities with inclusion to indigenous and minority groups.

Megan Bouldin said, “Programs like AWE are transforming lives by empowering women with the skills, resources, and networks needed to succeed in business. When women thrive, entire communities and economies benefit.”

Moreover, the event also featured the representatives’ remark of BRAC University alongside press coverage with winners’ interview and lastly a group photo session with all the participants of AWE.
