An open competition has been announced by U.S. Embassy Dushanbe’s Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) with an intent to implement the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs’ (AWE) second cohort in Tajikistan.

In the year 2019, AWE Program was established by U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), aiming towards providing females with knowledge, networks as well as the needed access in order to launch or scale their successful businesses. This program shall directly assist U.S. National Strategy, specifically on Gender Equity and Equality by promoting economic opportunities for women while making sure that females possess all the capabilities to participate in the economy.

The primary goal of the competition is to increase women entrepreneurs’ participation in GBAO of Tajikistan and local economy of the Khatlon regions by providing them with U.S.-style online education which has been facilitated and localized by State Department exchange alumni and local partners. This project particularly focuses on fostering networks for peer-to-peer mentorship, business partnerships in addition to scaling opportunities with regional and U.S. businesses. The project will be awarding a minimum of $25,000 to a maximum of $35,000 to the winners. It will land from 6 to 12 months.
