For the 5th consecutive year, Academy for Women Entrepreneurs program has been launched in Fiji, by U.S. Embassy while in partnership with Women Entrepreneurs Business Council as well as the Makoi Women’s Vocational Center.
AWE Fiji 2024 shall assist women business owner with $90,000 grants that was awarded to WEBC. These businesswomen will get the support across Central, Northern, and Western Divisions of Fiji. In addition, Marie Damour, the US Ambassador has put emphasis on the commitment by US to foster an inclusive and prosperous Pacific, keeping alignment with the 2050 Strategy for the focus of Blue Pacific Continent on economic development.
She said, “We established the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs with a goal to empower women with the knowledge, the networks, and the access that they need to launch or to scale successful businesses.”
Moreover, the program provides knowledge, networks, and resources to women that are necessary for launching as well as scaling a successful business. ‘DreamBuilder’, an online training platform, will be combines by AWE Fiji 2024, with in-person mentoring and facilitation. The platform will have a total of 7 trained facilitators from WEBC and Makoi.
Till date, a total of 457 women entrepreneurs have graduated from AWE while having more than 90% of alumnae stating an increase in their confidence and strategic business skills.
