USAID & KOICA sign MOU for Women's Economic Empowerment in India

USAID (US Agency for International Development) and KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) has joined hands in India in order to empower women in the country. The alliance signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the international collaboration, in India’s New Delhi on February 20, 2024. This collaboration will help in the development of the country to great extent. Women shall get benefited because of this alliance.

The MOU was signed in the presence of Eric Garcetti (US Ambassador to India) and Chang Jae-bok (Republic of South Korea Ambassador to India). The key focus of the alliance is to originate initiatives in women's economic empowerment, disaster and climate resilience, digital literacy, and trilateral cooperation with the Government of India.

Eric Garcetti in her statement for this coalition said, “This MOU, combined with India’s expertise, will drive progress in emerging technologies, STEM education, and support women entrepreneurs to flourish in their pursuits.”

Chang Jae-bok also expressed his sentiments and exclaimed that this MOU shall foster news initiatives that will focus on women’s economic empowerment in addition to disaster resilience, and digital literacy. Women entrepreneurs being a part of the goals of this MOU is a glad tiding for Indian women.

Along with the MOU, the alliance declared an inaugural initiative which is an exchange program for women entrepreneurs involved in USAID/India programs, ahead of Women’s History Month. This particular program will be providing specialized training in South Korea to enhance their business judgement and headship skills.
