Uzbek Leasing gets funding from EBRD for Women-owned businesses

Uzbek Leasing International to get loan offering of US$ 6 million by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). EBRD is an international financial institution which has been founded in the year 1991. It has again come up with new funds and growth opportunities for Uzbekistan’s women-owned and managed businesses.

This loan for Uzbek Leasing International is extended by Central Asian Women in Business programme of EBRD. The loan is being supported by Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative’s grant funding and is designed to encourage women entrepreneurship and business activity through financial support, know-how and technical advice.

This initiative of loan offering shall help women to thrive and women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. It is very crucial for the female entrepreneurs to grow as the country is looking forward to increase their percentage of women-led businesses from 25% to 40% by the year 2023. Uzbekistan has been making plans in addition to taking initiative to make the country gender inclusive and trying to acquire gender equality.

In Central Asia, EBRD funding’s leading recipient has always been Uzbekistan for the past four years. The firm has invested about €4.36 billion in 147 projects throughout the country so far while most of them were supporting private entrepreneurship.
