Val Hoyle, an US Representative and Democrat, has joined Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Oregon Republican Representative in order to introduce Veterans Affairs Opportunity for Women-Owned Small Businesses Act.
Aiming to improve federal contracting opportunities, bipartisan bill focuses on women-owned businesses within Vets First Contracting Program of the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The bill has been advocated by America’s Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans as well as Vietnam Veterans of America.
Rep. Lori stated, “I’m honored to lead this commonsense, bipartisan bill with Congresswoman Hoyle, which would help empower women-owned small businesses by providing them with more VA contracting opportunities. Women entrepreneurs fuel economic growth and success in our communities, and I’ll keep doing my part to support their hard work.”
Additionally, Democrat Val added, “Small businesses are the cornerstone of Oregon’s economy, and women-owned business are key to our state’s success. When I learned that women-owned small businesses do not have the same designation for VA contracts as they do with all other federal agencies, I wanted to act. This legislation will benefit businesses in Oregon and support our local economies.”
This bill shall uplift the businesses that are owned and run by women, which will ensure their growth in the industry.
