VF Foundation distributes $8.3 million in awards to address fashion sustainability supported by VF Corporation

The $8.3 million in grants were given out by the VF Foundation, a private grant-making organization supported by VF Corporation, to programmes promoting sustainable development, inclusive and accessible outdoor areas, female empowerment, and community building.

The remaining investments went towards mentorship and scholarship programmes created to promote diversity in the outdoor, footwear, and clothing industries.

Future generations' well-being is a priority for the VF Foundation when it comes to long-term economic transformation. collaborating with groups with a regional focus to solve basic challenges to community development.

It aims to uplift many underprivileged populations around the world, particularly women and girls in nations that source clothing. The grants will assist organizations that pool resources to improve public decision and action, such as:

The Resilience Fund for Women in Global Value Chains, Southeast Asia:

Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), the Universal Access Project of the United Nations Foundation, and Women Win/Win-Win Methodologies are directing an initiative to unite corporate investors, foundations, and NGO partners to transform charitable work and invest in economic resilience, safety, and well-being of the women who form the core of international value chains.

Shimmy Technologies Inc, Bangladesh:

Shimmy Technologies is bridging the digital gender gap and enabling the next era of garment workers to encourage financial resilience and create new job prospects for the unemployed by developing and evaluating video game-based specialized training programmes to develop and strengthen women in their sector.

WaterAid, Cambodia:

Cambodia's lack of water access is a problem that WaterAid is actively addressing. by giving women's leadership a higher priority, encouraging climate resilience, and promoting sustainability and sanitation practices at home and work.

The VF Foundation intends to focus on circular and regenerative fashion and clothing practices while also releasing promising nature-based climate solutions. Innovations that assist local farmers, create green jobs, and reduce textile waste are being considered game-changing options.

Redress (Asia):

Redress has been assigned a new strategy in Asia to close industry expertise and skill gaps related to sustainability. In this research, the current situation of the Asian fashion industry will be examined, and hotspots for the production of clothing waste will be identified. They will then publish important findings as well as recommendations for the most exciting business opportunities in the area.

Soil Health Institute (U.S.):

The Regenerative Cotton Fund was given funding by the Soil Health Institute to advance soil health management systems on many more than one million acres of US cotton cropland to mitigate the effects of climate change and enhance the livelihoods of cotton farmers. This initiative aims to unlock encouraging nature-based climate solutions in the US.
