Prime Minister Chinh spoke online from Hanoi to the 2nd ASEAN Women Leaders' Summit, which began in Cambodia, at Prime Minister Hunsen's request.
The purpose of the event was to foster collaboration and shared commitment in fostering women's entrepreneurship as a crucial factor in the establishment of a resilient and sustainable socio-economic recovery and development toward the creation of a shared future and prosperity.
PM Chinh welcomed the event, a Vietnam initiative to improve women's worth and participation in social economic growth as well as the ASEAN commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment when Vietnam holds the ASEAN Chairship in 2020.
“We should facilitate female enterprises’ sustainable contribution to development with a consistent legal framework to nurture women’s innovation, business start-up and participation in law making. Communications on gender equality and women empowerment should be accelerated in national, regional and international scale to fully tap women’s potential,” PM Chinh said.
I firmly believe that today's 2nd ASEAN Women Leaders' Summit will continue to be a platform to inspire and
motivate women in the ASEAN region. I would like to encourage ASEAN to continue to hold this Summit in years to come, as testaments to the commitment of the leaders of the ASEAN countries in the cause of achieving
gender equality in the countries and region," the premier underscored.
The Declaration on "Building a more Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Future: Unlocking Women's Entrepreneurship in ASEAN," is one that Samdech is very confident will be supported and accepted at the upcoming 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits in November 2022.
