The Director-General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Mohamed Jalal Al Rayssi, was welcomed by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on May 4 as part of her business trip to the UAE to participate in the 2023 Global Summit of Women and various bilateral events.

Vice President Xuan, who praised WAM as one of the top news organizations in the Middle East, welcomed the recent signing of a professional cooperation agreement between WAM and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), calling it a significant step in the collaboration between the two news organizations, especially as Vietnam and the UAE commemorate their diplomatic relations' 30th anniversary (August 1, 1993–2023).

Vice President Xuan expressed her conviction that, along with the signing of the agreement, the collaboration and information sharing between the two news agencies will be further promoted in a variety of ways, enhancing the mutual understanding between the two peoples and helping to promote images of the two countries and two regions.

She expressed her hope that the two organizations would quickly develop and put into action specific programs and plans based on the signed agreement to achieve meaningful results in their future cooperation in the area of information and communications, such as exchanging reporter delegations and exchanging publishing and translation expertise.

To deepen the goodwill and understanding between the two peoples and to further the extensive cooperation between the UAE and Vietnam, Mohamed Jalal Al Rayssi promised to cooperate with VNA to undertake cooperation activities successfully.

The agreement for professional collaboration between the VNA and WAM was signed on the same day by Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung, the deputy director general of the VNA.

According to the agreement, the two news organizations will collaborate in a thorough information exchange among the rapid changes in the global media. The agreement will aid in promoting the dissemination of information about cooperation between the two countries and informing its citizens and businesses about the potential, advantages, and cultural and social characteristics of each country. This will help to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and to inform the Middle East about the Southeast Asian country.

A Memorandum of Understanding on information collaboration was signed by the two organizations in April 2019 as part of the 44th Meeting of the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Executive Board, which was hosted by VNA.
