Women in Aviation International - Singapore Chapter (WAI-SG) has announced the launch of its inaugural scholarship program which will provide opportunities and resources to women aspiring to pursue a career in aviation.
Reports suggest that women account for less than 20% of most aviation jobs globally. In terms of licensed pilots, less than 10 percent are women and in terms of aviation CEOs, the number is as low as six percent.
With its new initiative, the WAISG intends to support women in Singapore, who make up nearly 50% of its population, to be successful in the aviation industry.
The scholarship program will provide tuition fees for an undergraduate degree along with providing young women with a holistic view of Singapore’s aviation sector through WAI-SG’s networking opportunities, events, and educational programs.
“Our goal is to support 20 women over the next 10 years through this program. We are therefore seeking partners to make this a reality by investing in the growth and sustainability of this life-changing initiative,” said, Lou-Ann Seet, WAI-SG Vice President.
