Female-owned businesses of Four of Connecticut are receiving grants of $25,000 through new Accelerate Grant Program from Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC). Founded in 1997, WBDC caters in the Professional Training and Coaching industry with headquarters in Stamford, CT.
This particular program has been designed to substitute the continued growth in businesses that are owned by women and has previously received any WBDC grants. Most recently in September, a Pitch Night has been held at Quinnipiac University where a total of 8 finalists participated in order to compete for the $100,000 grant.
The Four winners include Centrality Physical Therapy & Wellness (Guilford) by Jennifer Morgan; Family Eyecare of Orange (Orange) by Dr. Natacha Louis-Charles; Leaps & Bones (Southington/South Windsor/Manchester) by Amy Kenkel & Laurie Surprenant; and String Theory School of Music (New London) by Amy Leigh.
Fran Pastore, CEO of WBDC said, “While four finalists received $25,000 grants. I want to emphasize that all 48 eligible businesses, and especially the eight finalists, should be incredibly proud of themselves — not just for their participation in this competition but for the incredible enterprises they’ve built and grown. These women are making a significant impact in their local communities and playing a vital role in strengthening Connecticut’s economy.”
