The Women in Technology (WeTech) group recently concluded its second annual conference under the topic "Founders Conference: Women Defining Tech Entrepreneurship," in a resounding celebration of women's contributions to the tech sector.
WeTech, a non-governmental organization committed to advancing women in technology, was founded in 2018 with the annual Women in Tech Conference serving as a forum to unify and encourage female professionals. This year's conference, which was organized with the goal of breaking down boundaries, included a founder's pitch session in which a potential digital business received N1.5 million in early investment.
WeTech founder Gabriella Uwadiegwu underlined the need of strengthening women's presence in the IT sector. The organization's strategic effect on the tech community was highlighted by the purposeful selection of conference speakers, which included successful women who attracted institutional finance and venture capitalists.
The conference presented useful insights through talks on purpose-driven entrepreneurship for economic development, with an emphasis on eliminating barriers preventing women's engagement in Nigeria's tech industry. Flora Uwadiegwu, Co-Founder of WeTech, KaosiAnyanwu, Founder of StemBridge, and Nsikan Ubi, CEO of NUBI Consulting, among the panelists, emphasized the necessity of NGOs being purpose-driven.
The 'Scaling Up: Growth Strategies for Female-Led Tech Startups' panel featured industry leaders like Fade Ogunro, CEO of Bookings Africa, Nela Duke-Ekpenyong, Partner at Ingressive Capital, Kate Victory-Edema, Growth Marketer at Founders Factory Africa, and Uju Uzo-Ojinnaka, CEO of Traders of Africa (TOFA), who shared valuable insights into fostering growth and success for female-led tech startups.
