WiDEF launches Second Competitive Round for Women

A 2nd competitive round has been launched by Women in the Digital Economy Fund (WiDEF) that offers private sector enterprises with technical assistance including those living in Africa in order to provide help in closing the digital gender divide.

US White House has announced this fund which is a part of joint effort between Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and USAID for accelerating progress on for the same. CARE, Global Digital Inclusion Partnership and the GSMA Foundation are 3 firms managing the fund under their supervision.

This round is inviting application from large private sector enterprises to scale products, services or approaches through technical assistance that can increase access and usage of Internet for women.

GSMA’s head of Mobile for Development, Max Cuvellier Giacomelli said, “From our experience, we have seen how the right technical assistance can truly help companies unlock impact at scale. Through this new round, we believe we can deepen the private sector's contribution to the closing of the gender divide across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), in line with the GSMA Foundation's unwavering commitment to addressing this challenge.”

This round has help women to participate and take the growth opportunities for their benefit and look forward to having scale their career.
