On 2 consecutive weekends i.e., July 25 to 27 & August 1 to 3, 2024, Woman in Media-Newark (WIM-N) is all set to host its 15th annual Women’s International Film Festival.
In order to celebrate the global achievements of women, this event shall be held in different places, having 5 days in person and 1 day in virtual mode. The festival’s screenings are free of cost and open to everyone.
The festival come up with a dynamic program, proving international, independent film that represents the stories of 5 continent’s women to attendees covering the state over the course of the 6-day festival.
Pamela Morgan, festival director said, “The lineup for our 2024 Woman’s International Film Festival is epic! With 14 years under our belt, we decided to stretch out and present our most extensive film festival in our history for our 15th year. I know that this year’s festival attendees will find that the topics of this year’s films are compelling. The integrity of the stories being told, the cinematography and the timely themes are all compelling and offer insights into the women’s world experience, as well as into our very souls.”
The significant community contributors will be honoured during the festival with Community Service Awards that includes Prof. Dr. Dorothy Knauer, Zonta International District 3 Governor; Prof. Linda McDonald Carter, Esq., educator and comm unity activist; Anasa Ma’at, Author and Social Worker; Kirsten Mider, educator and community activist; Yvonne Onque, artist and activist; and lastly, Dr. Salamishah Tillet, scholar, activist, producer, and Pulitzer Prize winning author.
