WISE Serbia is preparing to organise its forthcoming conference, "Women of Serbia in Sustainable Energy - Leadership for the Energy Transition." The event, which will take place on September 20, 2023 at Dorol Platz in Belgrade, will bring together approximately 200 women who are actively involved in sustainable energy, climate action, and the green economy.
Anke Konrad, H.E. Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, will formally open the conference, which will feature 10 distinguished speakers presenting their thoughts and ambitions on two panels.
WISE Serbia founder Branislava Jovii highlighted her excitement for the event, adding, "WISE Serbia is the first network of its kind in the region, and one of the first in Europe and the world." We presently have 215 members working in energy, climate action, and the environment in a variety of professions and occupations. We are thrilled to welcome new members and highlight our most recent accomplishments."
The major goal of the WISE Serbia project is to encourage women's active participation and leadership in sustainable energy, with a particular emphasis on energy transition, democratisation, and decentralisation of energy.
Female Leader of Energy Transition Awards
The announcement of the winners of the first "Female Leaders of Energy Transition" awards will be one of the conference's highlights. These awards, founded in association with the Centre for the development of Sustainable Development and Germany's international cooperation agency GIZ, recognise exceptional efforts in the development of green energy.
Initiatives Worth Supporting
The findings of new research on the opinions, awareness, and roles of female citizens, both in households and businesses, in the energy transition process and the adoption of green technologies, such as solar panels and energy efficiency measures in their homes and workplaces, will also be presented to conference attendees.
During the occasion, a booklet titled "Role of Women in Household and Women in Business in Energy Transition - Initiatives Worth Supporting," based on survey findings, will be revealed.
Aside from displaying project accomplishments, the conference seeks to foster connections among WISE Serbia network members, increase their exposure, and motivate people to take an active role in pushing the energy transition.
Attendance is free for WISE Serbia network members or by invitation, while registration for others costs 100 euros. Participants can confirm their presence till September 18 by using the registration link given.
The WISE project was launched in 2017-2018 by the civil society organisation Centre for the Promotion of Sustainable Development (CPOR) in collaboration with Germany's international cooperation agency GIZ as part of the project "Promotion of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency in Serbia," with institutional support from the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia.
