Aine McCarthy has been appointed as the Director of the University of New Mexico Women's Resource Center (WRC). Prior she was a supporter of student survivors on campus and also served as the interim Director of the campus from March 2022.

Aine has completed her schooling at the Living School at the Center for Contemplation and Action in Albuquerque and also holds a graduate degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.

She has great experience working directly with relationship violence survivors, incarcerated, in recovery, and unhoused populations. She expressed her gratitude by mentioning the remarkable dedication shown by her colleagues and mentors on campus.

Aine will lead the WRC and provide strategic directions and consultations which will be required for the advancement of the university community in addressing the educational needs, prospects, and associated concerns of women in the community under the direction of Pam Agoyo who acts as the executive director for Student Support, director of American Indian Student Services, and special assistant to the President for American Indian Affairs.

In order to strengthen student support initiatives going forward, Aine's experience of empowering learning opportunities and advancing advocacy is essential, says Pam Agoyo. She even stood up for the student’s rights at the Women's Resource Center last year.
