World Bank ranks Afghanistan's Women Participation at 178th position

A recent report has been published by the World Bank regarding the status of women in the economy and business. The report discloses the participation of Afghanistan’s women ranks higher than other countries that includes Iran, Yemen, and Palestine while having ranked at 178th position.

The report entitled as ‘Women, Business and the Law 2024’ had the main focus to estimate women’s status in three key areas: legal frameworks, policymaking, and implementation of laws and policies.

The report gave an in-depth idea of Afghan women’s contribution into business while exclaiming that the country has acquired only 20 points in the legal frameworks section in addition to 13.3 points in the policymaking section out of 100.

The report has used key indicators in order to assess the status of women that includes mobility, workplace situation, wage and ownership rights, maternity rights, entrepreneurship, investment, childcare, security, marriage, and retirement rights.

Some of the other countries that comes after Afghanistan are Iran that has score of 31.3 is in 188th position, Yemen at 189th and Palestine at 190th. There has been a gradual increase of interest in Afghanistan’s women in private sector and business in the past 2 years, even after the suspension of education and work.
