World Government Summit 2023 in Dubai to feature Gender Balance Forum

The Gender Balance Forum and the Women in Government Forum will be held at the World Government Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Dubai from 13 to 15 February. 

They are being sponsored by Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, President of the Dubai Women Establishment, and the wife of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.

The two Forums shall bring together influential thinkers from the area and throughout the world to talk about fresh ways to improve gender parity and women's participation in politics. Global leaders, members of the public and business sectors, and experts in creating gender policies will engage in frank discussion at both gatherings.

Her Majesty The UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 relates to female representation and the empowerment of girls and women, and according to Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the two Forums have been planned to foster a rich exchanging of viewpoints on improving gender balance and accomplishing this goal. 

The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals were introduced at the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 and implemented into its strategic objectives, according to Her Highness, who claimed that the UAE is a global leader in embracing and fulfilling these goals.

Her Highness expressed her appreciation for the unrestricted support given by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enfranchise women and ensure their involvement in the country's development process. 

The leadership of the UAE has developed policies, structures, and methodologies to ensure the significant participation of women in all spheres of life, following in the footsteps of the UAE's founding Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who understood very early on that advancement and success are not possible without women's development.

The Mother of the Nation, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Maternity and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, were also praised by HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed for their contributions to the advancement of women in the UAE in the fields of education, society, and the workplace.

The World Government Summit, according to the President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and the President of the Dubai Women Establishment, offers the perfect international forum for exchanging gender balance success stories from around the globe and examining new avenues for advancing women's roles in a variety of sectors. 

"We look forward to realizing the leadership's aim to connect global initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development at the Summit and developing innovative ideas to enhance gender balance globally and regionally. In addition to strengthening the UAE's position as a key actor in positively reshaping the gender balance scenario in the region and globally, our goal is to ignite fresh worldwide dialogues about the importance of women's rights and gender sensitivity in sustainable development.

Her Highness pointed out that the UAE is ranked first in the Arab world and eleventh overall in the world by the United Nations Development Program's Gender Inequality Index (GII). 

Both the Global Gender Gap Report from the World Economic Forum and the Women, Business, and the Law report from the World Bank put it #1 in the Middle East and North Africa region. Her Highness underscored the UAE Female Representation Council's dedication to building on the country's gender balance successes following the leadership's vision and directives.

The third Women in Government Forum, which will take place at WGS 2023 with the subject "Ready for Leadership: Shaping the Agenda for the Future," offers a venue for governments from all around the world to declare their support and reaffirm their dedication to empowering women. 

The Forum, which brings together 400 female government leaders from around the world and 20 speakers, aims to create an international reach of female public sector leaders to assist, support, and mentor the next wave of female leaders.

Naglaa Boden, Prime Minister of Tunisia and the first female leader in the Arab world, Jessica Alupo, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, HE HE Edi Rama, Albania's Prime Minister Deputy Prime Minister and Georgian Minister of Culture, Sport, and Youth Thea Tsulukiani Vice President of the UAE Gender Equity Council Mona Al Marri, HE Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation, HE Dr. Rania Al Mashat HE Khadija Naseem, Minister of State for Environment, Environmental Degradation, and Technology of the Maldives, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment and Ministerial Coordinator and Mission of the COP27 Climate Conference, and HE Managing Director of the Environment Agency, Razan Al Mubarak.

She is an excellent Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council Mona Ghanem Al Marri stated that the Council's attendance at the World Government Summit demonstrates the UAE's commitment to building on the noteworthy advancements in gender balance that have already been made.

Since the United Arab Emirates was established in 1971, the nation's leaders have given the greatest priority to promoting gender equality and fostering environments where women may have a substantial impact on reshaping the social and economic landscape. 

The leadership's unshakable commitment to female representation rooted in a broad vision for women's development and empowerment is shown in the fact that the UAE has progressed so far in this goal. The UAE has attained top ranks in global ranking indices thanks to the government's persistent commitment to gender balance.

Her Excellency added that the country's dedication to serving as a global and international role model in achieving gender balance is reflected in the Gender Balance Forum that will be conducted during the World Government Summit in 2023. 

The Forum's deliberations will produce a plethora of fresh ideas, strategies, and activities that can close this gender balance gap on a global scale. The Gender Balance Forum shall examine methods to strengthen relationships between the public and private sectors to improve women's economic empowerment and meet their difficulties, she noted.

Ferid Belhaj, Vice President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa, Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, Haoliang Xu, Assistant Secretary-General and Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Assistance at the United Nations Development Programme, and Margery Kraus, Founder and Executive Chairman of APCO World are among the prominent public and private sector leaders taking part in the Gender Balance Forum.

According to Al Marri, the Gender Balance Forum shall consider how to strengthen relationships between the public and commercial sectors to support women's economic empowerment and help them overcome obstacles.
