Yelp Celebrates Women's History Month by Promoting Women-led Businesses

By: GWL Team | Wednesday, 21 February 2024

Yelp actively supports female entrepreneurs and promotes women-owned businesses in honor of Women's History Month. Yelp's community director, Nathen Marker, recently made an appearance at the event with Raphio Chocolate, a popular women-led local business.

Elisia Otavi-Makmur, a graduate of Fresno State, founded Raphio Chocolate in 2014, focusing on quality and authenticity in the creation of exceptional chocolate bars from scratch. Raphio Chocolate meticulously crafts chocolate bars from raw cocoa beans, undergoing 14 steps to create an immersive experience for chocolate enthusiasts.

Yelp introduced a "Women-Owned Business" attribute in March 2019, promoting women-owned businesses and partnering with Rebecca Minkoff. Notable businesses include CHLOE, Press Juicery, Drybar, Sprinkles Cupcakes, and Baked by Melissa showcase their best works on this platform. Yelp is promoting women's independence, with 79 per cent of American female entrepreneurs feeling more empowered than five years ago, highlighting female-founded businesses and fostering real-world communities.

Yelp has adopted the women-owned business attribute, with 378,000 businesses participating in states like New Mexico, Nebraska, and Delaware, and female entrepreneurs networking with other influential women.

In accordance to the event, Yelp is also organizing a "Women Run Central Valley," on March 5 and 6, 2024, to support and promote women-owned businesses in the community.
