The University of São Paulo, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Brazil, occupies a leading position in academic innovation and leadership in society for many years. Thousands of women have graduated from USP in the fields of education, business, politics, science, and the arts and contributed significantly to society in these fields. A new generation of women leaders, who are continuing in 2024 the tradition of innovation and tenacity, will engage with passion and commitment in the social transformation process inside and outside of Brazil.
Throughout USP's history, it has become a fertile ground for pioneering women who break barriers and reduplicate industries. From the fields of engineering and medicine to law and the humanities, alumni women from USP have shown strong leadership and a drive for positive change. The alumni network of the university recently turned out to be a vital force for gender equality and women's empowerment, including promoting the leadership of women in male-dominated fields in general trends in Brazilian society.
These women pioneers changed social trends through their work on one basis of growth accompanied by inclusiveness. Some, in fact, have already made their ways into very important government and policy positions, promoting women's participation in political offices and leading key public reforms. USP's female alumni have been, since the creation of the University, at the forefront in producing groundbreaking research in biomedicine, environmental science, and technology, thus being major contributors to global advancement while responding to the most important local needs in Brazil.

Many are engaging in mentoring programs and advocacy initiatives geared towards making higher education accessible to young women, particularly from underserved communities.
