Can you share some highlights from your extensive career as a taxation expert? What have been the key turning points in your professional journey?

The first pivotal moment in my career was starting at the Swedish Tax Agency many years ago, where I first discovered my fascination with tax law. The second and most significant turning point occurred over a decade ago when I began working alongside Ida Westgren at one of the Big 4 audit firms. Ida and I are now business partners, and I attribute much of my success to our collaboration.

Can you introduce us to Tellus Tax and explain the core concept behind the venture along with its main areas of expertise?

Tellus Tax was founded on the principles of values and community. Ida Westgren and I left the Big Four firm where we first met over six years ago to create our own tax practice. As we embarked on this journey, several of our esteemed colleagues from the Big Four expressed interest in joining a smaller, more personalized firm, leading to the team that forms Tellus Tax today. Our goal at Tellus Tax is to foster a healthy and sustainable work environment for our professionals while offering specialized expertise in property taxation, corporate taxation, and VAT. We are committed to being accessible and deeply involved in our clients' legal tax matters. As a Partner at Tellus Tax, my primary responsibilities revolve around business management and marketing. I am deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace, dedicating significant time to ensure our office environment reflects these values. While growth is essential due to our expanding client base, our goal is not to become large simply for the sake of size. Instead, we aim to grow thoughtfully by bringing on board the right people who align with our values and vision. This approach ensures that we maintain a high standard of service while nurturing a positive and collaborative work culture.

A business leader's journey is often filled with challenges. Could you shed light on the major obstacles you face in your current role, and how you address them?

As a tax lawyer, I find balancing my time between developing the company, supporting my colleagues, and providing expert advice to clients to be a significant challenge. Each of these responsibilities is a full-time job in itself. To manage these demands, I prioritize effective time management and delegate tasks where possible. I also focus on maintaining clear communication with my team and clients to ensure that all areas receive the attention they need. By setting clear goals and fostering a collaborative environment, I strive to address these challenges and continue to excel in all aspects of my role.

In your view, what have been the most significant achievements in your professional journey, and what is your success mantra as a leader?

One of my greatest successes has been finding the ideal business partner in Ida Westgren and collaborating with the exceptional team at Tellus Tax. I'm also grateful for a profession that I genuinely enjoy and that offers me substantial freedom. Additionally, I strive to be a role model for my three daughters, following in the footsteps of my mother, who inspired me in my career. How do you anticipate the taxation landscape in Sweden will evolve in the coming years, and which industry trends do you believe will have the most significant impact?

The taxation field is shifting towards more extensive reporting and greater digitalization. Over the past 15 years, I've observed a positive change in Swedish companies' approach to tax planning. They are increasingly focused not only on complying with legal requirements but also on adhering to societal moral standards. In today's environment, maintaining a good reputation is seen as more important than simply managing tax burdens. This evolving mindset will likely drive significant changes in how companies approach tax strategy in the nearfuture.
