Can you walk us through the early years of your life and share some of the key influences that helped shape who you are today?

From a young age, I was shaped by the unwavering determination and dedication my family instilled in me, with a strong focus on the importance of education and perseverance. I was always motivated by the stories of individuals who made a significant impact through their hard work and ethical values, which inspired me to pursue a career that would allow me to contribute in a meaningful way. These principles have remained a compass throughout my journey, especially as I navigated the challenges of a demanding profession, consistently striving to make a difference and excel in the field of law.

Can you tell us about Eproint and your role as a Partner at the firm? What are some of the key responsibilities you manage in this position?

Eproint is a leading IP law firm known for providing comprehensive intellectual property solutions to a diverse range of clients. As a Partner, I manage a broad spectrum of responsibilities, from strategic planning to case management. My role involves working closely with other partners to shape the firm's growth, explore new opportunities, and enhance our services. I am also focused on ensuring that Eproint remains a leader in the region’s IP law landscape. This combination of client-focused work and strategic development strengthens our market position and helps us meet our clients' evolving needs.

What are the key areas you focus on to drive growth at Eproint?

My main focus is on strengthening client relationships and improving our service offerings, particularly by serving as a single, streamlined point of contact for multinational clients with portfolios across various jurisdictions. By enhancing our expertise in IP enforcement and expanding our capabilities in regulatory and data protection, I aim to establish Eproint as a regional leader in IP law. Every business leader faces challenges along the way. What are some of the key obstacles you encounter in your current role, and how do you navigate or overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges in my career has been navigating a male-dominated environment, particularly during my time at Zurcher, where I was the only female partner. This experience taught me the importance of resilience and deepened my commitment to advocating for equal opportunities. In my current role, I actively mentor and support the professional development of women within our firm, as I believe that diversity and inclusion are key drivers of success. Overcoming these challenges has motivated me to lead by example, showing that leadership is defined by competence and dedication, not gender.

What do you consider to be your biggest achievements in your professional journey so far? Additionally, what would you say is your "success mantra" as a leader?

While securing successful outcomes in client cases has been fulfilling, my greatest achievement has been empowering and guiding young women to pursue their professional dreams. As a mother, I relate to the challenges of managing personal responsibilities alongside a demanding career, and I aim to prove that it’s possible to thrive professionally without sacrificing personal life. My leadership philosophy revolves around integrity, resilience, and empathy, showing that unwavering dedication and strength can open doors for both oneself and the future generation of women leaders.

How do you see the legal advisory landscape in Costa Rica evolving in the coming years? What are some key trends you anticipate shaping the industry?

Costa Rica's legal advisory landscape is set for significant growth, driven in part by the country’s efforts to establish itself as a hub for semiconductor manufacturing. Coupled with its strong position in medical device production, these initiatives are expected to attract high-tech investments and increase the demand for legal expertise in areas such as intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and technology transfer. Additionally, as concerns around data protection and evolving regulations intensify, there will likely be a growing need for legal counsel on data privacy and cybersecurity, especially with the rise of AI and other advanced technologies. Legal advisors will be key in guiding businesses through these transitions, ensuring they navigate the regulatory environment while fostering innovation and maintaining compliance.
