Killers of the Flower Moon

At the 2024 Golden Globes, Lily Gladstone became the first indigenous person to win the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Dramatic Motion Picture. Her outstanding performance was in Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon," opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Lily dedicated the historic event to her Blackfeet Nation tribe, which reared and supported her, during her poignant acceptance speech, which she began in the Blackfeet language.

She thanked her mother for her attempts to integrate the Blackfeet language into classrooms. Lily underscored the value of real representation for indigenous performers and dedicated the prize to the youngsters who may now see themselves represented in stories told with trust and allyship. Growing up on the Blackfeet Reservation, Lily’s nomination and victory are important landmarks.
